I did not wake up like this.
On a bad day, there's always lipstick.
A girl should be two things; classy and fabulous.
Just wing it. Life, eyeliner, everything.
Six Beauty Staple Must Haves for 2020
The year for self care.
These are a few of my favorite things.
For a deep scrub
I recently purchased this cleansing brush and I. AM. OBSESSED. I can't believe I didn't purchase this sooner. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I have already noticed a difference in my skin. You can purchase Clinique's facial wash or you can use your own. This is how you use it:
1. Apply the face wash on your skin.
2. Wet the brush haed so it's damp and press the 'C' on the handle and the brush will start to vibrate.
3. Press the brush head on your face in circular motion and apply around your cheek, chin and forehead areas.
4. The vibration lasts in 30-second increments. *For your first time, only use the brush for 30 seconds. Once you get used to it, you can use it for one minute.
You can purchase it on Overstock for $69.99.
For smoother & brighter skin
I've seen countless Ads on these rollers and I finally gave in to see what the fuss was about. I have to say, the results were quite nice. This is how you use it:
1. Clean your face so it's fresh.
2. Place the roller in the fridge for 30 minutes.
3. Once time's up, use the bigger stone side and apply it on your cheek, forehead and chin areas using an up and down motion. Take the smaller stone side and apply it under your eyes, nose and temple areas using the same motion.
The price for the rollers range in price from $7 up to almost $100. The link above is from Nordstrom and is $28. You can get a cheaper one to start from Groupon for only $7. I purchased mine at a Home Goods for only $10.
To revive and hydrate your skin
This is a great and easy product to incorporate in your morning and nightly routine. All you have to do is spray your face in the morning (after applying make up is fine) and at night before bed. You'd be surprised how much hydration your skin needs after a day's worth or work! You can purchase it at Sephora for only $7.
For a fresh face.
I've tried numerous skincare products over the years and this has to be one of my favorites! You squeeze a small amount of cream onto the glove and rub circles around your face to get deep in your pores. You rinse your face off with water afterwards and feel the smoothness of your skin instantly. Get it for $48
For those pearly whites.
After years and years of braces, I like my teeth looking nice! I came across this natural charcoal product a while ago and am addicted to it! All you do is dip your toothbrush head in the powder and brush your teeth for five minutes. I've been using it for about a month now and have noticed how much whiter my teeth are. Get it for $20.99
For luscious & hydrated lips.
My lips are always dry. I feel like I'm constantly putting chapstick or vaseline on to keep them hydrated. I came across this lip balm and mask duo and I think I've found the answer to my problems. You put the cream on your lips for three minutes and gently wipe it off with a towel. Afterwards, you put the ointment on for a plumper feel. Life changing. Get it for $24.00
For smooth and blemish-free skin.
I came across this Indian healing clay after reading various beauty articles months ago. I couldn't believe that something so affordable could really benefit your skin - boy was I wrong. With this powder, you scoop an appropriate amount (enough for your face or whichever body part) into a bowl and mix it with water, until it looks and feels like clay. You evenly spread it on your face between 10-15 minutes. During this time, your skin will feel very tight and dry. Once the time is up, you wipe it off with water and you will be amazed with the results! Get it for $7.50.
For smooth and silky curls.
I have had curly hair for my entire life, so I've gone through my fair share of hair products. Every few months I like to switch up the styling product so my hair doesn't get too accustomed to it. This coconut curls cream has done wonders for my curly hair - and all it takes is just one pump (well, maybe two...depending on the day)! Get it for $8.00.
For clean skin.
Don't let the name intimidate you...I have been using witch hazel for a few years now and it's a game changer. You can get this in any drug store for less than $4.00. If you have a burn, irritated pimple, rash or any type of cut, rub some witch hazel on your skin and overnight it will do wonders. I use this to clean my face before I go to bed every night and it has become a quick and easy nighttime ritual!
There are so many lip glosses out there, it's overwhelming to choose one. I usually play it safe and stick to what I know, but I decided to take the risk (I know, I'm really daring) and try a new lip product. Well, I'm glad I did because I love the Buxom lip products! It gives you a nice shine while also giving your lips that temporary plump look. Feel the burn for $20.
I'll admit, my fiancé was the one who introduced me to this one. He saw it on a Facebook ad (we were suckered into it) and wanted to know what the hype was about. I've only tried it a few times, but my skin feels awesome afterwards. After washing and drying your face, you apply a thick layer of the black mask all over your face (avoid eyes, lips and eyebrows). Let it sit for about 30 minutes and your face will feel dry and tight. When it reaches to that point, you peel it off and you'll feel great once you see all those pesky blackheads on the dried mask. Get it for less than $6.
I'm a big hand cream gal. If you know me, you know that I always have one in my bag. With that being said, I've gone through my fair shares of different types of lotion (the good, the bad and the smelly). I was at Anthropologie the other week and this hand cream caught my eye. I'm glad I got it because it smells and feels sooo good on my hands. They stay hydrated for a while and the smell isn't overwhelming. Get it for $12.
For thicker & faster-growing hair
So, I'm sure you've seen this product all over Instagram, with celebrities and their perfect hair posing with this little blue bottle. Before you roll your eyes, I hopped on the bandwagon to see what all the hype was about because FOMO. I am here to report that these gummies have changed the hair game. I look forward to taking these every morning and saw results within weeks. Try them out for $29.99.
HUM has vitamins and powders for everything it seems. I was introduced to these a few months ago after I was complaining of bloating and stomach aches. I have a sensitive stomach in general, and I have noticed a difference since taking one of these a day. If you have a sensitive stomach also and are looking to try something new, I would recommend these! They are all natural and vegan. Get it for $25.
For hair, skin & nails
I've been taking OLLY vitamins for a long time - for stress, sleep and beauty. This grapefruit flavor is yummy and helps improve your hair, skin and nails. Get a month's supply for only $14.99.
For flawless blending
I've been using this blending brush set and it has totally changed my makeup game! The biggest brush is for blending after you contour, the second biggest brush is for blending your blush, and the smallest two are for blending eye shadow. The quality of the brushes are really great and they are easy to wash as well. It really gives you that natural and clean glam look with minimal effort! If you’re looking to change up your makeup game, I would absolutely recommend these brushes. You can get the set for $90.
For the perfect cat eye
When it comes to eyeliner, I honestly head to the drugstore to get it for $7. I decided to “splurge” a couple weeks ago because I wanted to try something different. There’s good and bad to buying the Marc Jacobs eyeliner because once I tried it, I knew I loved it, but I was also mad because it’s more than my normal drugstore eyeliner. I have to say, the texture is extremely smooth and almost creamy when you put it on. It also stays on all day, so your eye makeup will stay on point if you are going out after work. They also have the eyeliner available in more fun colors other than brown. Get your cat eye on for $24.
For long and natural-looking lashes
My mom was the one who introduced me to this mascara. I am one of those girls who uses multiple mascaras for my eyes — as in three: one for my lower lashes and two for my upper lashes. Once I was introduced to this mascara, I was so excited to test it out. It didn’t disappoint because I was hooked on it after! I use this brand when I am going for the more natural, every day look. If you’re a mascara-colic like myself, I would say it’s worth testing it out to mix up your makeup products. Get it for $25.
For a backup shampoo
I’ve been using Oribe dry shampoo for about two years now and I will never look back. I straighten and wave my hair a lot and can go three or four days without washing it (without sounding gross). I’ve only tried a few different brands, but I always gravitate towards this one. It’s light when you spray it in your hair and it doesn’t make your hair feel greasy after rubbing it in your scalp. It also smells delicious! It’s the perfect plan B to when you hit snooze a few too many times and are crunched on time in the AM. Cans start at $22.
For moisturized (under) eyes
I will start off by saying that this product is a little pricier than I normally recommend, but I did try this eye mask last weekend and boy did my eyes need it! Now that it’s (finally) getting warmer out, my skin has taken a beating with the cold, harsh weather. I typically have drier skin under my eyes, so these patches did wonders. I left them on for about 15 minutes and after I took them off, my skin felt so moisturized and smooth! You can get a pack of six for $75.
For great scent
I’ve been a Juicy Couture devotee since sixth grade. Viva La Juicy was one of my favorite products and I have to say, it’s still one of my favorite perfumes of all time. Though the quality of the design has gone down over the years, the scent has never changed. It’s sweet smelling, without smelling too sweet (if that makes sense). Bottles start at $30.
They say the best things come in small packages and they are right about that! I bought this stick of amazingness two weeks ago and I'm wondering why I haven't tried it sooner. Like shampoo and conditioner products, I try to switch my foundation and concealers when they are finished. Even though I haven't been using this for a long time, I already know it's going to be a staple in my beauty routine. It's very light and covers any blemishes throughout the day. Get your color for $30.
This is another one that I'm new to. I think I still have to give it time, but I did think it was worth it to post about! What I do love about it: It's color and texture. It's not a thick concealer. It's actually pretty light when you put it on. What I'm still on the fence about: It does have all natural products and when you put it on, you look a little shiny. If anything, it gives you a nice glow to your skin, but there's a point when it's just too much. I will have to give this a run during the summer to see how it does with the (NYC) heat. I do like that it has SPF in it already and there's over 20 shades to choose from. Get it for $29.
To me, this cream is a summer must-have. If I'm outside in the summer months, I rarely wear any makeup. Now, I love my makeup, but I also love the feeling of stepping out fresh-faced and casual. This cream (which comes in multiple shades as well) has SPF 30 in it already so when you apply it, it has the purpose of regular sunscreen. The nice thing about it is that even though it does have the same purpose as sunscreen, it doesn't have as creamy of texture. Get cool for the summer for $47.
